Piccolo Me (Nutellagato), Sydney

Yes, yes this is a special post for my lunch trek to Piccolo Me at Castlereagh St! It’s just off the main road at the top of Martin Place but you can’t miss the bright yellow logo outside! After my constant badgering on Instagram, Roy kindly invited me to sample the Nutellagato (affogato variation with Nutella ice-cream).

The Ricky Ricardo – Salami, tomato, cucumber & provolone dolce ($8.00)

The Food Zoo experience: The lunch wraps/salad options are on the lighter side so you know you’re not going back to the office for a food coma. It also means more room for the nutella bomb or *drumroll please*…. The Nutellagato! A double ristretto shot + Nutella ice-cream. I love all things nutella so needless to say I will be going back for more! For those who are wanting to try it out, the Nutellagato is available starting August 11th at all stores =)

The Food Zoo experience: LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Had to go back to this place two weeks in a row with my entire family in tow. For a table of 7 we waited for over an hour and I was getting terribly grumpy! But the staff were lovely and served us complimentary fish croquettes and coffees for waiting and a free pastry for my Grandma (thanks Glen)! The coffee was good, peanut and caramel shake packed a punch (too bad there weren’t more flavours) and the raspberry smoothie was super thick and full of berry pulp with each sip (not sure if I used the term pulp properly…) Also the kitchen does a great job in serving the food super fast (we were in and out within 45 minutes) without compromising on quality. Don’t really have a favourite as I liked all their narnies (house-made flat bread) and the french toast was divine!

The Incinerator, Willoughby

I’m glad they have finally made use of the ‘incinerator’ in my neighbourhood (really just an abandoned tin shed which I hadn’t even noticed for most of my childhood). The place is always packed and bustling whether it be a 9AM early coffee or a leisurely late lunch at 2PM! Make sure you check out the photos on the website – what they have done with this place is absolutely amazing!

Incinerator02

Cappuccino ($3.80)

Incinerator01

Mocha (Can’t remember…. Around $4.00?)

Incinerator03

Incinerator Sandwich: peppered scotch fillet, cheddar, dijon and pickles ($15.00)

Incinerator04

Pulled pork brioche bun, pineapple chutney, spring onions, crackle ($18.00)

Incinerator06

Hand cut chips, rosemary sale ($9.00)

The Food Zoo experience: The pulled pork brioche bun was my favourite and I have been back weekly if not twice a week for the coffee. The beef sandwich was served with what seemed like Smith’s potato chips from the packet which was so random. Overall, good relaxed venue for any occasion. The food is a little expensive but it’s nice that I don’t have to trek to Surry Hills and the likes for some consistently delicious coffee! And a tip from me; be wary of the nightmarish Saturday netball traffic during Winter!
